The Story Behind 202Love

This house is the house that raised me. If you zoom in, you will see the number on this house is 202. The house and those that went in and out of those doors are the driving force behind 202Love, Inc.

In this house, I knew I was loved. I knew that the people in the house wanted the best for me. They looked out for me. They supported me. They made sure I was good and if I wasn’t, they tried to help.

In this house, I was seen, heard and acknowledged. They encouraged me and they corrected me. There were rules and requirements in this house. I now know they were in place for my protection. 202Love is in many ways a tribute to the people of 202.

Over time, I have grown to appreciate those rules and those that enforced them even more. I know that I was blessed to be raised and loved by 202 and I know that made me who I am today. This is what I want to share. I want every child to have a little 202 love in their life!

Here’s a quick peek at some of my village!

whymentorship.202.jpg

Mentoring Matters.

Today’s teen faces challenges that are hard to imagine. They make it hard for them to navigate day to day activities, reduces their ability to see their future and pulls them away from their purpose and destiny.

  • Social media bullying

  • Higher rates of depression and anxiety

  • Increased suicide rates

  • Peer pressure , competition and comparison

  • Low self-esteem

Mentoring, at its core, is all about the relationship. When done right, it can be a life saver and a direction changer. Any type of mentoring makes them feel seen and feel mattered. It gives them insight and perspective. Knowing someone cares has a positive impact on how they approach school, family, community and themselves.

This is what 202Love will do. We will work with them. We will remind them who they are. We will share tools with them to guide them through their now and prepare them for their future.
